Since 2000, my life has been defined through a viewfinder. For over two decades, I had the honor of capturing some of life’s most pivotal moments—the joyful tears at weddings, the proud smiles of high school seniors, the playful energy of pets, and the quiet romance of engagement sessions.
Portraiture taught me technical precision, emotional awareness, and how to work under pressure. But deep down, another passion was always calling.
I’ve made the decision to pivot my focus entirely to what has always had my heart: Landscape, Nature, and Wildlife Photography.
A World of Influences
My visual perspective was shaped by an unconventional journey:
- Roots & Raised: Born in Germany and raised among the rugged beauty of Massachusetts, I grew up with an innate appreciation for changing seasons, deep forests, and historical landscapes.
- Service & Discipline: Serving for over a decade in the U.S. Army taught me resilience, patience, and adaptability—skills that turn out to be crucial when you’re standing in sub-zero temperatures waiting for sunrise or tracking wildlife through dense timber.
- Formal Craft: To ground my passion in technique, I earned my training through the New York Institute of Photography, honing the foundation that allowed me to transition seamlessly across different genres of photography.
Shifting the Focal Length
Photographing people is about connections between human beings; photographing nature is about connecting with the Earth.
After 20+ years of studio lights, strict timelines, and orchestrated poses, stepping out into the wild feels like coming home. The skills I spent decades sharpening—reading light, anticipating split-second moments, and composing under dynamic conditions—are now dedicated to the patient art of capturing a dawn mist rolling over a mountain ridge or the quiet eye of a wild animal.
Nature doesn’t pose, and it certainly doesn’t follow a schedule. That’s the beauty of it.
